Daughter of Waite G. Barbour and his wife Rena M. Bowers-Furly. She was born and raised in Nebraska, attended the University of Nebraska in 1934-35. She then moved to Michigan, then onto California. She lost her parents early in life, her mother passing when Mary was 18, her father when she was 25. She spent the last 56 years of her life in Los Angeles County, and worked for 20 years as an x-ray technician before retiring. Mary never married, she lived to be 83 years old, and survived her brother Henry by 13 years. Her and her brother are interred next to each other in the Sanctuary of Devotion, Niche #179.
