Edward M. Lewis, 56, stationary engineer, died at 8:30 a.m. yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. A. Livingstone, at 644 Eight street, Clarkston after a prolonged illness.

Mr. Lewis was born in Northfield, Minn., on Jan. 27, 1887, to Charles Laban Lewis and Mary Elizabeth (Morrill) Lewis.

He married Anna Alzada Moffitt on Jan. 26, 1905, in Lewiston, Nez Perce Co., Idaho. They had two children: Vernon Winifred Lewis and Mildred Emmaline Lewis.

For the last seven years made his home in Lewiston and Clarkston.

He leaves his daughter, Mr. Livingston; two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Ella Small, Portland; Mrs. Anna Springer, Havre, Mont.; Charles L. Lewis, Wilark, Ore.; Hiram Lewis, Spokane, and Frank Lewis, residing in Minnesota.

Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Brower-Wann chapel with interment at Normal Hill Cemetery, The Rev. E. V. Swinehart will officiate.
