"On September 15, 1943, he joined the Army Air Forces and served until he was honorably discharged with Meritorious Service on November 24, 1945 as Sergeant George E. Becker.

Upon returning from duty, he became a co-founder of the family owned Becker Motor Company along with his father and two brothers, and remained an active part (which included President) of the business through March 4, 2002 when they sold to Bluebonnet Chrysler Dodge. In 1973, he was one of the original “Organizers” for New Braunfels National Bank (now Wells Fargo), and upon becoming an established bank in July of 1974, he served as a Director for a time. He was also a life member of the American Legion Post 179."
