Ray Charles Haley, 57, of Lafayette, died at 5:45 AM today [Thursday, May 6, 1976] in St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he had been a patient one day and ill one week. Born and reared at Pine Village, he spent most of his life in Lafayette, and was a 1937 graduate of Jefferson High School. In 1945, he was married at Clarks Hill to Ruby Pauline McNabb, who survives.

Mr. Haley was a clerk at the Lafayette Post Office. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of First Christian Church, Kiwanis International, Knights of Pythian Lodge 51, and American Postal Workers Union.

Surviving with his widow are one son, Sgt. Marcus D. Haley, stationed in Germany; one daughter, Juanita (Mrs. Roger) Corson of Monticello; one brother, Elmer F. Haley of Indianapolis; one sister, Marie (Mrs. Leonard) Frazier of Bloomington, IL; and two grandchildren.
