Mary Jennie (Newton) Gard, 88, died at 9:49 PM Friday, Aug. 31, 1990, in her West Lafayette home. Born Jan. 25, 1902, she was a native and life resident of Tippecanoe County. She was married to W. Russell Gard on July 6, 1956, at Cumberland, IN. He is retired from Purdue University, where he was a turbine operator.
Mrs. Gard attended West Lafayette High School and had worked at Duncan Electric Company for 15 years, retiring in 1958.
Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Edna Mae (Mrs. Harold H.) Thomas of Cumberland; and two brothers, Clarence Newton and Ray Newton, both of Lafayette.
