MOSCOW William C. Hall, 71, a retired Moscow contractor, died Thursday at Gritman Memorial Hospital here of emphysema.

He was self-employed as a contractor from 1956 until 1970 when he retired for medical reasons.

Hall was born Feb. 4, 1919, at Bovill to Jesse E. and Olive Hall. After graduating from high school at Bovill, he joined the Merchant Marine and served from 1941 to 1953.

He married Jerry Zagelow in 1958. They were later divorced.

In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating and spent many years in Montana in a mining and hunting camp.

Survivors include a son, Doug Hall of Newport Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Janeen Hall of San Juan, Puerto Rico; two stepdaughters, Kerrie Wood of Deary, and Sherry Carter of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; a stepson, Larry Zagelow of Newport News, Va.; two sisters, Marian Cone of Lewiston and Ruth Coch of Bremerton; and eight grandchildren.

A sister, Winifred Mann, and a brother, Jess Hall, died previously.

At his request, no service will be held.

Mountain View Funeral Home at Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.
