Victoria -- Charles R. Bahl, 69, died Tuesday, May 7 at Western Prairie Care Home, Ulysses. He was born March 226, 1916 in Hays to Joseph and Anna (Wasinger) Bahl.

He married Elsie Klaus Sept. 9, 1940 in Hays; she died Feb. 21, 1984.

He taught for 33 years in the Lioti, Victoria, Paradise, Waldo and Winona school systems. He was the organist for St. Fidelis Catholic Church and was a member of Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen, Ulysses, and Drew, Hays; four sisters, Sister Cordelia Bahl, Huntingon, Ind., Agnes Bahl, Ellis, Lucille Weissbeck, Salem, Ore., and Alice Brown, South Laguna, Calif.; two brothers, Julius and Richard, both of California; six grandchildren.

Services were at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Fidelis, Father Gilmary Tallman officiated; burial was in the church cemetery.
