Born Dec. 1, 1938, in Peoria to Chet Jones and Lois Jones Clarkson, he married Ruth Ehnle on June 4, 1960, at the La Prairie Methodist Church.
Surviving Dan is his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Dawn (and Al) Robinson of Chillicothe and Erica (and Creig) Colson of Sparland; seven grandchildren, Joselyn (and Justin) Brubaker of Indianapolis, Ind., Jeffrey Allen of Peoria, Juli, Jordan and Jay Allen, Jacob Dunbar and Dani Jones of Chillicothe; two sisters, Judy Perry of Bloomington and Kathie (and Ron) Herron of Champaign; and his son-in-law, Ron Dunbar of Chillicothe.
He was preceded in death by one son, Bradley Jones, and one daughter, Cassandra Allen Dunbar.
He received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Nebraska and a master's in psychology from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
Dan served our country in the Air Force for 28 years, retiring as a captain in 1983.
In 2006, Dan was inducted into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame for being a member of the 1954-55 undefeated Chillicothe Grey Ghosts football team.
He was a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather who took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was also a loyal Grey Ghosts fan.
Services will be Saturday, Jan. 13th, at 11 a.m. at the La Prairie United Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Rev. Nollan Harwood Jr. will officiate.
