Marvin R. Moon, age 80, of Gardendale, AL, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2002. He was born and raised in Cullman County. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer B. Moon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church of Cullman. He retired from U.S. Steel after 35 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Baker Moon; son, LonDee Moon of Gardendale; four daughters, Gwen Hollis and husband, Edwin of Gardendale, Maxine Barnett and husband, Gerald of Hanceville, Sandra Campbell and husband, J.E. of Fultondale, and Kay Parker and husband, Terry of Gardendale; two grandsons; seven granddaughters; 11 great grandchildren; mother, Pearlie Farley Moon of Gardendale; two brothers, Namon J. Moon and wife, Annie Mae of Cincinnati, Ohio and Dearl Moon and wife, Arlene of Gardendale; two sisters, Gaynell Sorenson and husband, Ray of Warrior, and Donna Ree Higginbotham of Oneonta, AL.; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Gardendale Chapel with burial in Oakwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Ridout's Gardendale Chapel directing.
