Thomas enlisted for Civil War service in Company F, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Aug. 6, 1862, as a private at Amherst Twp.(Lorain County Ohio), for a term of 3 years. Occupation: Farmer. He was admitted to the U.S. General Hospital at Cleveland, Ohio, Dec. 24, 1864, from Camp Dennison General Hospital with a gunshot wound to the left hand, sustained May 31, 1864 during the Atlana Campaign in Georgia. He was discharged, Mar. 20, 1865, at Cleveland, Ohio.
