Jacob J. Luft died at his farm home, known as the Timber Smith place, nine miles northeast of Rolfe, Sunday, May 3, 8:30 p.m. A heart attack was the immediate cause of his death, altho he had not been in the best of health for some time.
Jacob J. Luft was born Feb. 15, 1875, and at the time of his passing had reached the age of fifty-six years, two months and eighteen days. The son of Wendall and Rosena Luft, he grew to manhood and was educated in Lee county, Illinois, and Nov. 24, 1898, was united in marriage to Miss Mary Hoffert of Sublet, Ill. The following year they moved to Pocahontas county, and have since farmed in the Pocahontas and Rolfe communities. Mr. Luft was a man of kindly disposition, a hard worker, a good citizen, and upright in his dealings with men. A faithful husband and a kindly father, he will be sorely missed in the home.
He leaves to mourn his passing his widow; six sons, Florian B. of Moline, Ill., Charles W. of New York City, N.Y., Roy G. of Rolfe, Leo. A. of Chicago, and Orville and Howard at home; two daughters, Leona and Pauline, both at home; a grandchild; four brothers, Anton and Will of Maynard, Minn., Charles of Okalena, Minn., and Frank of Gilmore City; and three sisters, Mrs. N.J.
