Elizabeth W. "Betty" Skellly, 84, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Carmelite Monastery Chapel, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfell of Church of the Nativity officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. and a rosary at 7:30 p.m. said by the Carmelite Guild Board, at Carmelite Monastery Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.
Miss Skelly was born Oct. 17, 1912, in Chicago, the daughter of William H. and Elizabeth M. (Ryan) Skelly. She was raised in the Chicago area. She was employed as a switchboard and computer operatory with Wanzer Dairy in Chicago for 25 years, retiring in 1978. She moved to Sioux City in 1980. She was a member of Church of the Nativity and Carmelite Guild Board.
Survivors include a sister, Lucille Lunney of Oak Forrest, Ill; 20 nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Marie Lunney of Santa Cruz, Calif. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sr. Michael of the Carmelite Monastery of Sioux City; and a brother, Paul Skelly.
