OBITUARY.

DIED - Thursday, July 23, 1896, at the residence of Mrs. Carter, near Plattsburg, Mo., Edna Vaughn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Vaughn of near King City. Edna was born in DeKalb county (sic), April 6, 1874. The deceased was stricken with typhoid fever and, after several weeks of suffering, the frail body was released from its pain and the spirit of the beloved sister and daughter entered the home of rest. Miss Edna had passed the twenty-two years of her life in DeKalb and Gentry counties, and was highly esteemed by her many friends and acquaintances for her noble character and lovable disposition. An unusually strong attachment existed between her and her younger sisters. A bitter sorrow has fallen upon the family in the death of Edna. Her remains were brought, Friday, to the home of her parents, and on Saturday the funeral services were conducted at the Christian church in King City by Rev. Morrison of Albany, assisted by Rev. Myrick. For a number of years Edna had been a faithful member of the Christian church. A large concourse of friends filled the church and joined with the grief stricken family in mourning their great loss. This estimable and exemplary young lady was betrothed to Mr. John Ball of Starfield, Mo., to whom she expected to be married in September, next. The young man attended the funeral and burial services, and joined with the family in their bereavement. Surrounded by a weeping, sorrowing company of bereaved relatives and friends, the body was tenderly laid to rest in the King City cemetery (sic). In the companionship of angels and in the presence of her Savior, she rests, free from her labors.
