Marvin E. Lawrence, 41, of 511 Glencoe, Waterloo, Iowa, was dead on arrival at Schoitz Memorial Hospital of a heart attack suffered at his office at 3:17 p.m., August 8. He was born in Brooks, Iowa, Spetember 13, 1930, son of Ernest W. and Erma Wilkinson Lawrence.
Marvin was married to Aileen heath, June 2, 1951 om Carlisle, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Army for two years during the Korea confict.
He graduated from the Coring High School, University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. degree in Education in 1959. He was a member of Pi Delta Kappa for the last 15 years. For the past five years, he had served as director of Secondary Education for the Waterloo School system and had recently been appoiinted as assistant business manager. Prior to this time, he was principal of Logan Junior High School for three years, and had been a math instructor, guidance counselor, and assistant principal since coming to Waterloo in 1955. He had also been instrumental in the planning and development of the new Central High building facilities and staff.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and had served as Sunday School superintendent, senior MFY counselor, teacher of the Soerheds of Christ Class, and on the administrative board of the church. He also had served on the board of directors of the Black Hawk County Mental Health Center, Area Drug Council, and had been chariman of the Citizens for the Decent Literature.
He is survived by his wife; his parents of Corning; and one son, Scott Allen and one daughter, Lori Ann, both at home; one brother, Keith L. of Council Bluffs, Iowa and two sisters, Mrs. ernestine Frederick of Osage Beach, Missouri, and Mrs. Evelyn Carothers of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at the Grace United Methodist Church in Waterloo, August 11 at 10 a.m. Burial was in the Brooks Cemetery.
