Mark Edward Adams, 48, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and formerly of Keokuk, died Saturday, June 15, 2002 at his home. He was born May 30, 1954, the son of C.E. and Joy Dose Adams. He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1972. During school he worked at the Elks Fairview Golf Course. After graduation, he attened Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids and received a degree in horticulture. He worked as a golf course greens keeper in Ft. Madison, Iowa, and then in Carthage, Illinois before starting his own landscape business in Keokuk. He then moved to the Charlotte, North Carolina area in 1987. He was first married to Jackie Kraus and they had two children, Melanie Adams and her companion, Kevin Fleck, of Greenville, South Carolina and Brian Adams who is station in Groton, Connecticut with the United States Navy. He later married Cindy Hutcherson and they had one daughter, Lauren Adams. He was recently married to Sharon McGraw of Chicago, Illinois. She survives and they resided together in the Lake Norman area where he was engaged in landscape construction. Other survivors include his parents, C.E. and Joy Dose Adams of Keokuk, Iowa; sister, Lisa Adams Carel and her husband, Robin, of Hamilton, Illinois; nieces, nephews cousins, aunts, and uncles, and many good friends.
He enjoyed boating, was a Nascar fan, and liked taking his friends to the racetrack, and entertaining his friends and family in his home.
His body was cremated.
A memorial services was held Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at the HIll Chapel United Methodist Church near Lake Norman, North Carolina. A service was held in Keokuk Saturday, June 22, 2002 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Pennington officiating.
