He was the husband of Lisa M. (Taglianetti) Abenante. Born in Providence on Nov. 4, 1952, a son of the late Ralph and Maria D. (DiCicco) Abenante Jr., he had lived in Johnston for 26 years.
Mr. Abenante joined the Providence Police Department in 1974 and was promoted to sergeant in 1990. He was a member of the Providence Police Bowling League, and was an avid baseball fan.
He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Patrolman Ralph Abenante IV of Providence and Bryan P. Abenante of Johnston; and a brother, Steven Abenante of Providence. He was the brother of the late Kenneth Abenante.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. from A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
