A graveside funeral for Kay Frances Averette, 65, of 511 Gentry Ridge Rd., who died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006 at the Duke Hospice in Hillsborough, was conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, in the Person Memorial Cemetery by the Rev. Brian Hager.
Mrs. Averette was a native of Person County, the daughter of the late W.O. and Lona Viola Strum Averette.
She was employed at Duke University Medical Center for 47 years.
She loved to fish and travel.
She was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are three brothers, Clifton (Cliff) Averette of Clemmons, Loyd Averette of Durham and Strum Averette of Vienna, W.Va.; and a lifelong friend, Evelyn Ray Gentry of the home.
