He graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1960 where he played football and ran track. His 4 x 100 relay team still holds the school record. Gene attended Auburn University, becoming a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. In 1965, he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Design and Construction. He loved football and his Auburn Tigers, and had been a longtime football referee in Washington County, MD. Gene worked for many years at M.S. Johnston Co. in Hagerstown, MD, before becoming a sales manager at Hill Phoenix, Inc., where he was passionate about his job servicing the Publix Supermarket account. He retired in November 2011 to his home in GA, where he became a member of the Nacoochee Presbyterian Church in Sautee, GA.
Paul is survived by three children from his first marriage. He is also survived by his identical twin, Thomas "Dean" Hoult. He was preceded in death by three siblings; Eleanor Chronister, Mary Johnson, and Robert Hoult.
In keeping with his wishes, he will be laid to rest in both Red House, MD, and Dugspur, VA.
