LANETT -- Mr. Edwin Davis Abernathy Sr., 75, of Lanett died Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at LaFayette Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette with the Rev. Rudolph Leak officiating. Burial followed in LaFayette City Cemetery.
Mr. Abernathy is survived by his wife, Yvonne Abernathy of Lanett; three sons, E.D. (Rusty) Abernathy of Waverly, Ala., Charles N. Abernathy of Columbus, Ga., and Mark A. Abernathy of Starkville, Miss.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Born Sept. 7, 1925 in LaFayette, Mr. Abernathy had retired from Uniroyal after 23 years of service. He served in the 5th Marine Division during World War II. He was a member of Shady Grove Christian Church in Lee County, Ala.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Alabama Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
