Mr. Fred Owenby age 94 of Tom Huggins Drive Blairsville passed away on Thursday Sept. 25, 2014 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Owenby was born on July 22, 1920 in Union County. Before his retirement Fred had been employed with Colwell’s Construction Company and C W Matthews and also done carpenter work for many years. Fred was a loving Husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Owenby was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Owenby are his loving wife of Sixty six years, Louise Butt Owenby of Blairsville, two sons and daughters in law, Sammy and Sharon Owenby of Dahlonega, Danny and Barbara Owenby of Blairsville, four grandchildren, Christopher Owenby, Wesley Owenby, Sarah Ozaki and Madison Owenby, five great grandchildren, Owen Ozaki, Kinley Owenby, Robert Owenby, Shyann Owenby and Isaiah Owenby, many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Saturday Sept.27, 2014 at 12:00 noon from the Zebulon Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Potts and Rev. R.L. Martin officiating. Special music will be presented by Ricky Beavers and Jenny Conner. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Wesley Owenby, Kyle Ozaki, Carroll Dotson, Christopher Owenby, David Tanner and Donald Murphy. Interment will follow in the Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the church on Saturday from 10-12:00 pm. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Zebulon Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Owenby.
