Steven Jay Worthington (69) passed away February 2, 2002 surrounded by his loving family after a short but courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Steve was born Oct 17, 1932 in Grantsville, UT to Samuel and Elizabeth Hale Worthington. He was raised and attended school in Grantsville. He then attended Utah State University (which at that time was known as Utah Agricultural College). He joined the Army and was stationed in Albuquerque, NM where he met his sweetheart and eternal companion, Claudia Rock of Dragerton, UT. (East Carbon City) They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 20, 1955. On July 1, 1957, Steve and his young family moved to Salt Lake City where Steve went to work for the Western Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad as an Engineer for 38 years doing what he loved most. He retired in July of 1995.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia; son, Jeff; daughters, Denice (Brent) Hermansen, Tonya, Kim (Eliseu) Benedito; 10 grandchildren, Eric (Christina), Brandon, and Bryan Hermansen, Jared, Ashley, Jordan, and Kelley Worthington, Samuel, Gabriel, and Thiago Benedito; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Tyler, and Cody Hermansen; brother, Samuel Lee (Orveda) Worthington; sisters, Rowena (Al) Madsen, Ruby Warr, and Joy Lemkin; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack, Frankie; and one sister, Virginia Geldmacher.

Services will be Wed. Feb 6, 2002, 11 a.m., Winder 5th Ward Chapel, 1361 E. 4000 S, Salt Lake City, UT. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. So. Temple, Salt Lake, Tues. Feb 5, 6-8 p.m. and at the Chapel Wed. 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 S. 1700 E, Sandy, UT.
