Marian Sophia Green was the daughter of Lemuel Green and Mary "Poly" Fairbanks. As a little child she moved with her family to Illinois on the frontier. Soon the family moved to Dane County, Wisconsin. At the age of 15, she married her cousin, Charles Henry Munn on 20 April 1860 in Seneca, Crawford County, Wisconsin. Her husband and two brothers died in the Civil War. As a young widow with two children, she married James M. Bearse, a Civil War survivor. They moved out to Nebraska in 1867, then the prairie frontier. She died at age 44 of consumption in Kimball, Nebraska. She is said to have had a love for Christian work and especially the Sunday School of her church. (Methodist-Episcopal)
