J. H. Newman Buried Friday
John Henry Newman, 86, of Route 10, Fort Worth, was laid to rest in Post Oak Cemetery Friday, Sept. 24, following services in Boyd-Reynolds Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. Elder A.D. Wood officiated.

Newman, a former Somervell County resident, died Sept. 21.

He was born Nov. 28, 1889 in Cuero and with his family moved to Somervell County where he lived for several years before moving to Voss, where he was married to Lela Pearl Pepper on Aug. 8, 1917.

He was a Veteran of WWI and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of Fort Worth; two sons, Royce, of Fort Worth and W. H. of Paris; four daughters, Mrs. Jerry Holmes of Clyde, Mrs. Lou Nugent of Dry Prong, La., Mrs. Susie Marsden of Fort Worth and Mrs. Leola Faircloth of Hugo, Okla.; three brothers, Walter of Oklahoma, Othel of California and Edwin of Glen Rose; three sisters, Mrs. Rachel Bullion, Raymondville, Mrs. Randy Wilson of Shamrock and Mrs. Carrie Patterson of Comanche; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
