Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Vega Church of Christ. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega by Boxwell Brothers of Vega. Mrs. Ayres was born May 23, 1915, in Lipscomb County to Newton and Rose Flathers. She lived in Vega since 1949. She received her BS degree from West Texas Teachers College and taught at Bunker Hill, Gruver and Vega for more than 35 years. Mrs. Ayres was active in Senior Citizens and helped found Oldham County Library. She was a member of Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Lee J. Ayres and wife Ann of Amarillo and Bob Ayres and wife Jan of Vega; four grandchildren, Rhonda, Raina, Robyn and Nikki and husband Rusty; and two great-granddaughters, Alex and Alisha. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.
