Porter Newman was the Father of Dale, Carl, and Melody And also of Mark Newman. He was found dead in his car in Lake Whitney. The car was in park and the ignition was turned off but it was ruled he accidentally drove in the lake and drown. The window was down and the water just barely covered the roof of the car, with the antenna still sticking out of the water.
