Dennis S. (Guido) Zaffino, 59, of 702 Lake Street in Girard, entered his heavenly home the morning of March 12, 2006, surrounded by friends and family. Dennis was born in Erie on March 30, 1946, to Samuel Zaffino of Erie and the late Ruth Shepherd Zaffino. He was retired as a truck driver with Team Hardinger and had enjoyed the open road for 30 years. Dennis' proudest accomplishment was his contribution to the Sons of the American Legion as their Commander for Post 742 of Fairview, where he devoted much time and energy, when he had little of either, to the cause of preparing Christmas baskets for needy veterans. Dennis' wishes were for memorials to be made to the Sons of the American Legion Post 742, 8 Maple Drive, Fairview, PA 16415, to ensure continuation of this program to which he was so dedicated. It has been said that success is having lived well, laughed often and loved much. Dennis Samuel Zaffino was the epitome of success. In addition to his mother in 1959, he is also preceded in death by a sister, Robin Zaffino Silvis in 2005. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Young Zaffino; and his children, Kimberly Zaffino, Dennis J. Zaffino, Lynnae Kiser and her husband Jim, and Melissa Young and her fiancé Robert Merriam. He leaves his parents, Samuel and Rose Zaffino and brothers, Sam Zaffino and his wife Liz, David Zaffino and his wife Cori, and Jerry Zaffino and his wife Michelle, a sister, Beth Cacchione and her husband Dr. Philip Cacchione. The joy of his life was his grandchildren, Amanda and Nicholas Kiser.
