James O Barrett, 70, of 3006 S 10th St. died at 8:30 am Saturday, Oct 31, 1992, in Union Hospital. He retired as correctional officer after 15 years at the US Penitentiary. He was born April 19, 1922, in Terre Haute to Oscar Barrett and Maude Davis Barrett. Survivors include his wife, Bettie Dwyer Barrett, one son & four daughters. One brother & three sisters. Seven grandchildren & several nieces and nephews. He was an Army veteran of World War II, served in the Army for 20 years, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. Services are 1 pm Wednesday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev Larry Mathias officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park, with military graveside services by Post 972. Visitation is 4 to 8 pm today.
