DEATH OF ANTON MENKE

Death claimed another of the highest esteemed pioneers when Anton Menke passed away at his home in Bow Valley on Monday at 10:30 at the age of 86 years.

Anton Menke was born in Germany on May 24, 1837, and came to America about 50 years ago. He later returned to Germany, where he was married to Miss Agnes Bunger, and together they came to this county in 1877 and settled on a homestead on which they lived the rest of their lives. Mrs. Menke died 24 years ago.

The late Mr. Menke is survived by two sons, Anton and Joe, and two daughters, Mrs. Joe Wiebelhaus and Mrs. Henry Sudbeck.

The funeral was held from the Bow Valley church on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, and was largely attended. Interment was in the family lot at Bow Valley.
