John was born in on October 3, 1912. He married Orpha Glover on November 28, 1936, in Clio, and she predeceased him June 28, 2007. John was a member of Community Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are daughter-in-law Nancy and husband Jim Moore of Flint; grandchildren, Doug and wife Eve Brooks of Port Huron, Bethany Brooks West and husband Jerry of Lake Ann, Michigan; 7 great-grandchildren, Kristina, twins, Michael and Bryan, Marissa and Kathryn Brooks, Brittany Brooks and Camden West; Pam Haley.
