John S. Register was the son of Alexander Graham 1801-1868 & Melitha Register 1820-unknown. He married: (1) Elizabeth Register, 6 Mar 1864, in Laurens County. They had the following children: Emily 1867-unknown, George Washington "Tobie" 1869-1937, Sarah "Sallie" 1871-1945. He married: (2) Joannah "Annie" Evans, 14 May 1876, in Dodge County. They had the following children: John Thomas, Sr. 1879-1929, William S "Jim" 1882-1940, Joseph Wesley 1884-1937 & Mary Reller 1889-1929. He married: (3) Effie Floyd, 11 Feb 1894, in Laurens County. They had the following children: Buster 1895-unknown, Winnie Eliza 1896-1973, Effie Viola 1906-unknown, Alfred Greenberry 1910-1991, Ethel Register 1914-unknown. He served during th Civil War in the Confederate States Army as a private in Company H, 14th Georgia Regiment, Laurens County, Georgia, having enlisted in 1861. He was wounded in both legs & 1 arm during a battle near Petersburg, Virginia just 10 days before the surrender at Appomattox. He remained in the hospital for a total 40 days. He was granted his Confederate Pension in 1902 & records show he continued to draw the pension until March 1919 where the Army recieved that months pension returned with the words "Respectfully Returned" written on it indicating his death.
