Allie Lorrayne Dufphey was born June 29, 1924 in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Leonard and Loretto McKenna Dufphey. Lorrayne attended grade school in Battle Creek, Nebraska, and high school at Omaha Benson, then was a graduate of the Norfolk School of Cosmotology in Norfolk, Nebraska.
On July 18, 1947, Lorrayne married John T. McCarthy at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Tilden, Nebraska. To this union four children were born. In the early years of her married life she was a homemaker. In 1960, Lorrayne went to work at the Norfolk Regional Center in Norfolk as a Psych Tech II and retired from there in 1986.
John passed away on August 28, 1989, and Lorrayne lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for the last 25 years. She volunteered at the Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln for 12 years and was awarded Volunteer of the Year for her service.
Lorrayne loved anything chocolate, Turner Classic Movies, John Wayne, the Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Football.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Dan Dufphey; and granddaughter, Sarah Hodge.
