In 1900 he lived with his parents and his two younger sisters on a farm they owned, mortgage free, in Franklin Township, Decatur County, IA.

In 1910 he and his second wife and their two children--his son from his first marriage and their son--lived on a farm they were renting in the same township.

In 1920 he and Minnie and their five children lived on a farm they owned, with a mortgage, in Clay Township, Wayne County, IA.

In 1930 he and his three youngest children lived there. They did have a radio.

In 1940 he lived there by himself. His home was valued at $1100.
