Ann Gibbs was born about 1605, probably in Frinshall, Norfolk, England. Her parents were Henry Gibbs and Sarah Elmye. Between 1629 and 1635, she married John Fiske, probably in County Norfolk. John and Ann may have had a child or two who died as infants in England. He sailed with his wife, a younger brother, perhaps William, and their mother Anne Lawter Fiske for Boston in Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1637. Unfortunately, Anne Fiske died during the voyage and was buried at sea. John and Ann stayed first at Cambridge, but removed that same year to Salem, where John was freeman on November 2, 1637. John was the schoolmaster in Salem. There Ann and John had three children.

John preached occasionally in Salem, and they removed to Wenham, where he was ordained as minister on October 8, 1644. There they had Ann, born January 15, baptized March 12, 1646, being the first baptism in that church. John and Ann removed in 1655 to Chelmsford, Middlesex County, where he was agasin the minister. Ann died on February 14, 1672, "after living with him about 37 yrs." The older headstones in the Forefathers Burial Ground in Chelmsford are no longer readable, but there is no doubt that Ann is buried there.
