John died the morning of July 19,1950 at 1:30 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D.B. Whittaker in Kingsport, TN. Survivors are three sons, Audley and Reuben of Morristown, and Johnny B. of Kingsport, TN.; four daughters, Mrs. J.T. Stooksbury of Knoxville, Tn., Mrs. D.B. Whittaker of Kingsport, TN and Mrs. Clyde Alexander and Mrs. Sara Crawford of Morristown, TN., brothers, G.W. Bales of Morristown, TN and Ike and Jesse of Talbott, TN; thirty-five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The Funeral was held on a Thursday, July 20 1950, at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. M.K. Forbes officiating.
