CHESTER HILL - Jon Edwin "Jack" Butterworth, 69, of Chester Hill died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at 7:10 a.m. at his residence.

Born June 22, 1945, at Philipsburg, he was a son of the late Edwin and Mabel (Irwin) Butterworth.

He graduated from Philipsburg-Osceola High School.

He wed the former Rose Ann Kitko on April 25, 1070, at Houtzdale.

Jon served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968-1976. From 1969-1970, he served in Vietnam.

During enlistment, he was trained to fight wild fires and flight line fires. Blackhawk Unit.

Following his honorable discharge, he was a heavy equipment diesel mechanic and worked for Riverhill Coal Co., from which he retired in 1995.

He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg and the former Madera Veterans of Foreign Wars John Branic Post No. 8822, and enjoyed using his hands working with cars and wood-working.

He is survived by his wife, Rose of Chester Hill; two daughters, Pamela (Mark) Husted of Morrisdale and Paula Butterworth of Chester Hill; three grandchildren, Cody Husted and fiancée, Kristine Frank, of Osceola Mills, Jesse Husted and his companion, Kara Maines, of Morrisdale and Dylan (Rachel) Husted of Clearfield; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Sadie Husted of Clearfield; three sisters, Theora Williamson of Madison, Tenn., Joan (Paul) Dimond of Chester Hill and Janet Miller of Lock Haven; two brothers, Dean Butterworth of Philipburg and Eldon (Joann) Butterworth of Punxsutawney; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray, Irwin and Maynard Butterworth.

Friends will be received at Kruise Funeral Homes Inc., Ramey, on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 19, from 8:30-10 a.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept 19, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Father Robert J. Kelly as celebrant.

Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Military honors will be provided by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.

Jon will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him, and by his beloved pups, Tucker and Wyatt.
