Obituary:
Our loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Iva Marie Hatcher, age 86, of Beckley, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Born on September 4, 1927, in Streeter, she was the daughter of the late Alvis Vest and Ida Bennett Vest. Mrs. Hatcher was a homemaker, and a member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley for over 50 years. She loved to garden, raise flowers, especially roses, and gospel music (especially the Gaithers) and spending time with her family. Mrs. Hatcher was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Clyde Hatcher Sr., a brother, James Vest, and a sister Mabel Pack. Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Connie Elliott and her husband Doug of Daniels, and Clyde Hatcher Jr. of Fayetteville, W.Va.; a sister, Enola Saunders of Hinton; a grandchild, Michael Elliott and his wife Stefanie of Charleston, W.Va.; four great-grandchildren, Camden Elliott and his mother Tawanna, Nate Elliott and his mother Dawn, Emmalee and Katie, and grandpuppy, Misty. The family extends special thanks to caregivers, Teresa Arthur, Jasmine Towner, Janice Brown and JoHanna Stover. Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 11 a.m., with Dr. Charles Bright officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.
