Greg Ray Brown, of Morgan Hill, California died on September 10. 2014 in Seattle, Washington. Greg was born on May 1, 1970, and started playing with computers practically before he learned to walk. He prided himself on knowing how to build and re-build anything, and always knew how to tackle problems other people could not solve.

Greg grew up in Texas and never lost his country charm and love for country music. He went to Kirbyville High School and Lamar University, where he graduated in 1993 as an electrical engineer.

Greg was drawn to the big city of Houston where he began his career as an engineer at Amoco. He was hungry to learn new technologies and industries, which led him to positions at Schlumberger and Omnes, then Trend Micro and Tarari. By this time, Greg wanted to do something that made a real difference and his passion about security led him to Intel/McAfee where he spent seven years in various roles, with his final being the Chief Technology Officer for their Cloud to Chip Security Solutions.

Greg always loved adventure, and it was during his time in San Diego, California that he became an avid scuba diver and sky diver. While he was quick to excel at the mechanics of those sports, he maintained a child-like excitement about them until the very end. He loved to laugh, loved music and never turned down a chance to have a party. He was a great story-teller and had an infectious laugh that charmed every person in the room, whether that was a group of three kids or an audience of a hundred technology colleagues.

Greg's final home was in Morgan Hill, California, where he enjoyed working on his trucks, building chicken coops and racing remote controlled cars and planes.

He is survived by his son, his mother, father, two brothers; sister-in-law, extended family and endless family members and friends.

Two memorial services are being held: In California, on Tuesday, September 30th from 3pm to 6pm at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara, 5101 Great America Parkway in Santa Clara. In Texas, on Saturday, October 4th at 10:00am at the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Jasper, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to contribute to the College Fund set up for Greg's son, Dylan Brown. Details can be found on Greg's Memorial Facebook page: www.facebook.com/greg.b.memorial.
