Mrs. Sara Hathaway McMinn Davis, 80, of Carmichaels, died at 10:10 pm Sunday, January 21, 1973, in Greene County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Her husband Perry A. Davis, died in 1944. Mrs. Davis had spent all her life in Carmichaels where she was a member of the Greene Valley United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Davis was the first telephone operator for the Greene County Telephone Exchange Co., and the last operator on duty in 1959 for the South Penn Telephone Co. when it changed to the dial system. Her career as a telephone operator spanned 50 years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ira (Charlotte) McMinn Brown, of Carmichaels, and Mrs. Thomas (Helen) McMinn Mark of Barberville, Ky; one son, George Harvey McMinn of Naples, Fla; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and one brother, John W. Hathaway of Carmichaels. Funeral services were held Wednesday with burial in Laurel Point Cemetery.
