Donald Rae Adams, 81, of Houston, Texas, passed into God's hands on September 16, 2014 while surrounded by his family.

Mr. Adams was born in Paris, Illinois on August 13, 1933 to Harold and Genevieve Vaughn Adams shortly before his twin brother, Dennis. He graduated from Paris High School and went to earn his bachelor's degree in business from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. While at Knox, he met his wife of 59 years, Carole Joan Isaacson. Following graduation, Mr. Adams served in the Army from 1956-1960, part of that time in Landshut, Germany. Once stateside, Mr. Adams began a 36 year career in the grain business, managing grain elevators and serving on the board of Illinois Grain and Feed. In 1996, he and Carol moved to Houston to enjoy his retirement close to his family.

Mr. Adams is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Genevieve Adams, his brothers, Dennis and Steven Adams, and his granddaughters, Megan Smith and Hannah Ehlert.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Mark (Nan) Adams of New Orleans, Jon (Ginny) Adams of Houston, Robert Adams of Houston; daughters, Susan (Claude) Smith of Houston, and Amy (Devin) Ehlert of Cypress; grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) Mandola, Hank Adams, Katherine Burkitt, Riley Adams, Austin Ehlert, Elliott Smith, Mason Ehlert and Aaron Ehlert; one great-grandchild, Ethan Mandola; brother, Dale Adams of Paris and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Adams' life will be remembered on Monday morning, September 22 at Klein Funeral Home Champion Forest location, 16131 Champion Forest Dr., with a 9 a.m. visitation and the funeral service starting at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Klein Memorial Park on FM 2920 Rd. in Tomball, Texas.
