He was born January 5, 1921, in Birome, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army. A retired pipe and steel company owner, at the time of his death, he had lived in Tyler for 25 years and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
He is survived b y his wife Mary Cantrell of Tyler; daughters Annette Wilson and Suzette Gabriel, both of Georgetown; sister Zoie Vardeman of Waco; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service was held on February 27, at Bullard Cemetery with Reverend Bennie Portwood and Dr. B.C. McCoy officiating, with burial following under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Bullard.
