Mrs Melvina Paul died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. S. Sumner, in Isabella, Friday morning last, May 20th, at 11:30, aged 84 years. Her remains were carried to Albany Saturday for interment. She leaves several children, A. J. Paul of Isabella, J. F. Paul of Hadley; Mrs. W. D. Brady, of Ty Ty, Mrs. G. S. Sumner, of Isabella, and Mrs. W. J. Herring of Tuton (Tifton?), with a large number of grand-children, to mourn her demise.
Melvina Minchew was born in Bibb county, Georgia, Oct 24, 1814; was married to William Paul in 1830. They moved to Albany in 1850, and to Worth county in 1859. Two of the boys served through the war, and the oldest, John, gave his life for his country in one of the closing battles. William Paul, the husband, died in September, 1874.
A long life of usefulness, fitly closed by a death of peace. The years well spent leave no regret, and labor receives its earned reward.
Of a sturdy and thrifty race, she was well fitted to be the wife and mother of Georgia's pioneers. An energy unflagging, a courage undaunted, her life is a record of industry, of work full accomplished; of good deeds well done. Best loved by whom best known; eulogy would be but tribute; not tribute could be praise.

From family tree, she had 5 other children:
John M. Paul 1832-1864-- civil war death, place unknown
Susan F. Paul born abt 1835,
Nancy Paul born 1844 in Twiggs Co., GA and
Laura Paul born about 1845.
Phillip Paul born about 1850 in Bibb Co, GA.
No info available on them.
