Mr. Royal was born a son of George and Eliza (Leader) Royal Sr. in Davenport, Iowa on Oct. 2, 1883. The family later moved to Chicago and Oak Park, Ill. Mr. Royal made his home in Marengo for the last 53 years. He married Mabel Olson on Dec. 14, 1904. She preceded him in death in 1921.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy (Ed) Russell, and Mrs. Marjorie (Don) Hughes both of Calif.; eight grandchildren; and three aunts. They are Miss. Dr. Pauline M. Leader of Marengo, Mrs. Ethel (Dr. James) Fowler of Lancaster, Wis., and Mrs. Isabel "Belle" Royal of Chicago, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons; Russell in 1930 and Harold "Mansel" in 1925; and two brothers, Joel T. "Bruce" Royal in 1944, and William S. Royal in 1927. also his half brothers, Charles Royal, and George Royal Jr., and half sisters, Lizzie, Hattie, and Miriam.
Mr. Royal was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge.
