Gilman B DuBois brother of Hon. W.H. DuBois, ex-state treasurer, died Monday at the Brunswick hotel in Boston. He was the eldest child of Earl C. and Anna [Lamson] DuBois, was born October 9, 1823 in Randolph, Vermont.

He went to Randolph, Mass., in 1838, where he was employed as a clerk in his Uncle Turner's country store and later was a partner in the same business, under the firm name of Turner & DuBois. He continued in the trade until 1847, when his health failed and he returned to Vermont and remained in his native state until 1850. He then engaged in the wholesale boot and shoe business in Boston and removing to New York, conducted the same kind of business there for 12 years. ["Dubois, Magovern & Co. He married June 12, 1851, Ellen L., the oldest daughter of Loren Griswold of Randolph, and she died in Boston Oct. 31, 1880. Two children were born to them. One died in 1863, the other Loren Griswold DuBois, survives him, and is a Harvard graduate lawyer at Boston. Loren was unable to attend the funeral as he and his wife were on a trip through Europe.
