Memorial services for Floyd N. Ackert, 86, formerly of Chicago, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Arlington Heights Evangelical Free Church, 1330 N. Douglas Ave., Arlington Heights.

Born May 18, 1916, in North Dakota, he died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Brandal Care Center, Northbrook. Interment will be private.

Mr. Ackert dedicated his life work to educating and counseling at Lane Tech High School in Chicago. He was an active member of South Park Church of Park Ridge and also was a member of the Christian Fellowship Band. Family and friends will dearly miss Floyd's loving and gentle spirit.

Survivors include his children, Nancy (Nils) Christensen of Palatine, David Ackert of Lake Bluff and Alice (Bill) Davenport of Macomb; grandchildren, Eric and David Christensen, Elaine Salewske, Robert Ackert, Sandra Howard and Laura McCammon; and his great-grandchildren, Steven Christensen, Terrapin Christensen and Kevin McCammon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Ackert in 1992; and his brothers, Hugh, J. Howard and Francis Ackert.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for Metro Chicago Youth for Christ, 324 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, IL 60187 or to a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements were made by Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, Palatine.
