Mrs. Takewell was born in McGee, Miss., and lived in Ponchatoula. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Ponchatoula Post and Tangipahoa Volunteer Council on Aging.
Survivors include a son, William Joseph Takewell of Hammond; two daughters, Brenda Barr of Covington and Marsha Reeder of New Orleans; two brothers, Billy Burch of Florida and Paul B. Burch of Columbia, La.; four sisters, Helen Ervin of McComb, Miss., Margaret Hemphill of Sterlington, Polly Mohler of Luling and Sue Scurry [sic Scurria] of Tallulah; and eight grandchildren.
A Mass will be said Monday at 2 p.m. at Geisler Funeral Home in Ponchatoula.
