Wayne J. Kelso, 85 of Rockford, Illinois died at 7:10 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2007 in Rosewood Care Center surrounded by the loving arms of his family. Born March 4, 1922 in Rochelle, the son of Joseph and Julia (Rielly) Kelso. He married Betty (Timmons) Kelso on May 25, 1946. Wayne died on their 61st wedding anniversary. He proudly served his country during World War II in France, Germany and Austria. He worked for 37 years as a Machinist at Rockford Clutch. The last 24 years of his retirement he spent traveling, gardening and spending time with his family. Survivors include wife, Betty; son, James (very special daughter-in-law, Suellyn) Kelso; grandchildren Michael (Wendy) Schoon, Mathew Kelso, Brianne (Aaron) Leix, Chad (Cassie) Spencer and Christina Kelso; great-grandchildren, Christian Schoon and Landon Spencer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter, Katherine "Kathy" Kelso Spencer, his parents; Siblings, Lucille Ahles, Bernadine Rielly, Mary Urrea, Vince Kelso. Memorials to Heartland Hospice.
