Bluefield, WV- Virginia Ellen Erwin Pauley, 70, of Green Valley, WV, and formerly of Abbs Valley, VA, died Saturday September 13, 2014.
Born January 19, 1944 in Princeton, WV, she was a daughter of the late Dexter M. Pennington and Blanche B. Weeks Pennington. Mrs. Pauley was a bus driver for Tazewell County Public Schools. She was a member of Cumberland Road Church of God in Bluefield. Mrs. Pauley loved to travel and make quilts. She was a caregiver to many, and she enjoyed bowling. She was also an Elvis fanatic and enjoyed watching QVC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Woodson Erwin; her second husband, John Morris Pauley; and her step father, Vernie Akers.
Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth Johnson and husband Randy of Bland, VA and Nancy Dillon and husband Jimmie of Bluefield, VA; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Johnson and wife Devan of Bland, VA, Amy Anders and husband Brandon of Fort Chiswell, VA, Ashley White and husband Matt of Newport News, VA, and Zack Webb of Bluefield, VA; four great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Alexis and Delilah White, and Jase Anders; special friend, Alma Busatta; special caregivers, Marlene Salyers and the staff of East View Assisted Living; and her beloved cat, Walter.
The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, September 16, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday September 1, 2014 from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 with Mr. Jack Cox officiating.
Burial will follow at the Abbs Valley Church of God Cemetery in Abbs Valley, VA where William “Pokey” Stevenson, Jimmie Dillon, Matt White, Zack Webb, Randy Johnson and Jeffrey Johnson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Johnny Ray Finley.
