Private Rites for Mrs. Mary Eliot
Private funeral services will be held for Mrs. Mary Eliot, widow of Charles Eliot, former landscape architect who designed the metropolitan park system of Boston. She died Monday at her home, 86 Randolph road, Brookline, in her 81st year.
A native of Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Lucy Yale Pitkin. She had lived most of her life in Brookline and traveled extensively in Europe. A monument on the Charles River Esplanade honors her husband, who was the eldest son of President Charles W. Eliot of Harvard.
She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Roger Pierce of Milton, Mrs. Eliot Dudley of Brookline, Mrs. Lev Goriansky of Andover and Mrs. Richard C. Paine of Brookline, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
