Mrs. Jessie Baker, 94, widow of Thomas L. Baker, died in an Albany, La. hospital May 26. She was born in Alabama and had moved to Arkansas with her parents when she was a small child. She lived most of her life in the DeWitt area until four years ago when she began a residence at an Albany, La. nursing home to be near her sons. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Vernon Wofford of Minneapolis, Minn. and Bea and Eugene Baker of Albany, La.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Otis Goodwin and Almyra and Mrs. Willie George of Malvern; and 50 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. May 29 by Rev. Eddie McCord, pastor of First Baptist Church. Burial was in DeWitt Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home of DeWitt.
She was the mother of Willie F. Baker, Lester Baker, Curtis Wofford, Zellie "Zella" Isabel Wofford, Vernon Wofford, Thomas Bee Baker, Eugene Baker, and Mabel Iola Baker.
