Violet Verdene Van Natta, 93, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, was called home to her heavenly family Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet. Violet was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Oakdale, La., to Toliver and Ella Mae Strother. She had been a resident of Bedford for the last 51 years. Violet retired from Southwestern Bell after 35 years of loyal service. She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings. Survivors: Daughter, Donna Thompson; grandchildren, Traci Parker and husband, Richard, and Shane Thompson; great-grandchildren, Cole Parker and Miles Thompson; stepgreat-grandchildren, Nick Parker, Kelsey Gaston and husband, Shawn, and Lyndi Parker; several nieces and nephews, including Galen Creighton and Jim Smith.
